Point Score
Point Scores run throughout the season during Sunday morning Nippers for Under 8 to Under 14. Roll call is at 9.45 am. Events include sprint, flags, swim, board and iron person. All kids are encouraged to take part in the swim and board. The swim must be completed to be eligible for the board event.
Points are awarded each week and a running total is kept across the season for Under 8 to Under 14.
- 1st place: 4 points
- 2nd place: 3 points
- 3rd place: 2 points
- Participation: 1 point
Little Nippers do not have an official point score, but we still record place-getters’ names.
To qualify for awards on presentation day, each child must attend at least 50 percent of Sunday morning Nippers and have completed their Preliminary Evaluation and Surf Education.
If it is raining, please still come along. Surf Education can be taught indoors on these days.
Club Championships
Club Championships are held over two Sundays during the season. Events are the same as Point Score and the same points are used to decide overall winners.
- Under 8 Champion: Under 8
- Junior Champion: Under 9 and Under 10
- Senior Champion: Under 11 to Under 13
- Under 14 Champion: Under 14
It may sometimes seem harder for younger members, but everyone will have their chance to shine. Little Nippers compete as normal without points awarded.

Club caps must be worn to be eligible for Club Championships.
Surf Carnivals
All junior members from Under 8 to Under 14 are invited to compete in surf carnivals. These are great days for kids to try individual events and also be part of team events like beach relays, surf teams and march past. A good turnout helps us field teams across all age groups on the beach and in the water.
Carnivals usually start at 8.30 am, with arrival by 7.30 am, and often wrap up around lunchtime. Corrimal Sandpipers must compete in the club caps and black and white swimwear. Team events also require similar swimwear. Make sure caps are tied properly when crossing the finish line. Caps should be removed if taking part in activities outside of carnival events.
We also rely on help from families with tents, gear transport and water safety. Thanks for supporting your kids and the club.
