CSLSC President Tony Cartwright:
“Last night a group of concerned members from Port Kembla & Corrimal Surf Clubs attended the monthly SLS Illawarra Branch Council meeting. We had no intention of interrupting or participating in the meeting, we just wanted to hear what the Branch Executive & the Presidents of all Illawarra clubs had to say about what has happened.
I notified SLSI of our intention to attend the meeting on Monday. When we arrived, surprisingly, the SLSNSW Operations Manager was there…..I smell a rat.
At the start of the meeting, Dave Erskine & myself were given 5 minutes to address the meeting & then we were asked to leave the meeting. I would like to acknowledge & thank the supportive words of Michael Idstein, President of Austinmer SLSC.
If SLSI & SLSNSW are genuine in their attempt to, in their words, “to welcome us back into tent,” why do they not allow us, even if it was only myself & Dave Erskine, to stay & listen? These people are not fair dinkum, they are just ticking boxes.
Be very certain of this SLSNSW & SLSI, we are resolute & we will see this through until the end whether it’s in your tent or not!”
