Next Monday and Tuesday (14th, 15th), Para Meadows school is running an end of year surfing program at North Wollongong beach.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in volunteering some of their time on either of these days (or both) to help the school, Sam Hatcher (event organiser), and myself in directing and assisting the kids.
For those of you who don’t know Para Meadows is a school for students with moderate to severe disabilities. Although this may seem daunting to most, I can guarantee you will walk away from the day with a smile on your face and a desire to do it all again.
The day/s will be held at North Wollongong beach and commence at 9am. I would love for you to be able to spare an entire day but 2-3 hours would also be great. You can spend the entire day in the water or the entire day on the sand. I’m sure there is a task we can find for you to do and any help would be greatly appreciated.
As it is a school program it is required that all volunteers have a cleared working with children’s check, so this post is probably more directed at parents and age managers. I look forward to getting as many of you on board as possible and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!! Contact me via our Facebook page.
